Da Caelis Choir Workshop and Performance

The Neemrana Music Foundation continues its path of providing singers in India a world class learning experience by inviting a French ensemble – Da Caelis (www.decaelis.fr) to teach and perform in Delhi this time. You can be a part of this program as a choir singer, who will be performing at the Lotus Temple on 13th of August 2019. As this an educational program that aim towards providing singers with a new learning experience, this will be an unpaid event. We sincerely hope that this would not stop you from participating in this unique event. The rehearsals will be held at A-58, East Nizamuddin starting from 21st July on every Sunday from 5:00 to 6:30 pm.
The entire program is about 1 hour and 15 minutes long and choir’s part is about 25 minutes, out which 20 minutes is a smart-vox music which is an exciting and new style of performing polyphonic music using modern technology. This you will be taught by the composer himself. To give you an idea of uniqueness, simplicity and the way to prepare the music, i am putting the composer’s message to singers below.
”In general, the idea is that the singers should imitate more what they hear rather than what is written. On the other hand, when nothing is written, what is heard is just a cue, prompting for what comes next, therefore it should not be sung. The singers don’t need to learn the piece by heart since the phones will prompt them their lines during the performance”
Here is the recording of the piece
Here are the parts of for each voice (the choir is divided in 12 voices):
For the rest 5 minutes of the performance, you will prepare 2 songs separately (please write to us for scores of these)
All singers will be required to bring either a smartphone or a tablet.
The complete schedule is as below:

Let’s make an Opera!

As a part of our missions to bring opera to everyone, we have decided to build a pedagogical project for secondary schools to discover, build, practice opera.

This will involve our best singers and our children choir, as they share their passion for western classical music and opera in very rare and inspiring context, schools activities.

It will be the first time and we are really very excited about it!

The opera for the workshop is the famous, The Little Sweep by Benjamin Britten with a libretto by Eric Crozier.

There is a first part that takes the form of a play in which the cast portray contemporary amateur performers conceiving, creating and rehearsing the opera. Intended as an introduction to and demystification of the operatic genre.
